COPS22 will be be joined by partners the Southern African Confederation of Agricultural Unions (SACAU) to discuss African agriculture in Marrakesh, Morocco
The meeting at COP22 entitled "Implementation of regional smart agriculture approaches: the case of East and Southern Africa" shall take place on 16 November in Marrakesh, Morocco.
The chief executive officer of the Southern Africa Confederation of Agricultural Unions (SACAU) Ishmael Sunga shall be joined by Hon Oppah C.Z Muchinguri, Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate of Zimbabwe and Golden Mahove, deputy team leader and agricultural development facility lead of Vuna.
Vuna works with new and existing climate smart agriculture (CSA) activities in five countries; Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe. More over, Vuna also work with other East and Southern Africa countries in order to build a regional coalition of climate smart agriculture activities.
Some of the questions asked at the talk shall be 'What barriers are preventing smallholder farmers from improving their livelihood in the face of negative climate change impact? How can the systems in which they operate be strengthened so as to facilitate transformative change? How can low levels of youth involvement and gender parity be addressed?'
